Dr. Belinda Smith and Dr. Christa Gilliam of Morgan State’s School of Social Work have worked diligently to create a documentary highlighting the esteemed accomplishments of the Trailblazers In Child Welfare.
This presentation highlights the stories of the Unsung Giants. Those social workers who have advanced reforms in Child Welfare Policy, Practice, Research and Social WorkEducation. These professionals provide the historical framework for Social Work In Child Welfare. Their contributions speak to the root of the social work profession and highlight our values In action.

Meet Samara Stone
LCSW-C
Samara Stone, MSW, is a distinguished social work professional, entrepreneur, and educator with a transformative career spanning over 25 years in the field. Currently serving as an adjunct professor for the Entrepreneurship Course she created forMorgan State University's (DSW) program, Stone has served multiple roles including field instructor, board member, and adjunct faculty in the Master's program, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to advancing social work education and professional development.
In 2005, she founded The Stone Foundation, a Maryland-based behavioral health firm and launched Perfected Practice in 2013 to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and entrepreneurial success. Her innovative approach to business coaching and brand strategy has transformed the lives of many mental health entrepreneurs. Stone's dedication to the profession is further exemplified through her leadership in Social Work Month celebrations and educational events, making her a respected voice in both academic and entrepreneurial spaces within the social work community."
